LES SL

The Racer's Edge

On the right course, nothing is faster than a hardtail, and nothing delivers the stiffness to weight ratio and raw speed as a Pivot LES SL. The LES SL is engineered to the Nth degree to deliver the kind of handling, extreme power transfer and weight that transforms every last watt of output into a race-winning performance.

A NEW PARADIGM IN HARDTAIL PERFORMANCE

A tenth of a second gained here, a hundredth there, over and over across the length of an hour and a half long cross country race really add up at the finish line. The LES SL is up to three-quarters of a pound (that’s 300 grams!) lighter than it’s already svelte predecessor making it a racer’s dream that can turn seconds saved into minutes - all while retaining the quality and handling that has pushed Pivot athletes to cross country race wins at the elite level across the world. With new carbon dropouts, an integrated headset and new layup schedule utilizing Hollow Core Molding Technology and cutting edge carbon materials, the LES SL is by far the lightest hardtail we’ve ever built. Pivot’s race-winning hardtail legacy takes a quantum leap forward with a lighter, faster and sharper-edged tool with only one goal in mind: getting from point A to point B as fast as possible.

PROGRESSIVE XC GEOMETRY

When a bike racks up wins and course records in races around the world and is the weapon of choice for our World Cup XC, Tour Divide, 24-Hour racers every time the course is smooth and fast, you know that geometry is dialed. That’s why the LES SL retains the same great fit and handling that has made the LES a favorite with our elite racers across multiple disciplines. New school cross country race geometry relies on slacker head angles, shorter stems and longer reaches for the kind of stability that excels over the longest races and technical World Cup race courses with razor-sharp agility that makes it a short track racer’s advantage.

To ensure the best sizing, we recommend that you visit your local Pivot dealer to get a professional fit and refer to our geometry chart to check your measurements. However, we can provide a rough guideline:

Small: 5'3" – 5’8” (160cm - 172cm)

Medium: 5'8” – 5’11” (172cm - 180cm)

Large: 5’11”– 6’1” (180cm - 185cm)

X-Large: 6'1" + (185cm +)

Yes, internally routed dropper posts are compatible with the LES SL.

There are limitations that each dropper post has for each frame size based on the rider’s saddle height, so it is important to check the fit before choosing the travel and model of dropper post for your LES SL. Use the Dropper Fit Guide under the Tech Specs section to help identify the right post length.

30.9mm

34.9mm (or 35mm as some manufacturers call it)

S - 215mm

M - 265mm

L - 295mm

XL - 340mm

*Please check seat post measurements carefully before installing the post.

The LES SL uses Boost 148mm x 12mm hub/wheel spacing. This hub design has wider flanges, so you cannot change the end caps to convert an existing 135mm, 142mm, 150mm, or 157mm hub.

No, not easily. If you see a single speed setup in your future check out the LES with its Swinger II dropouts. The system fully adjustable for single speed use or to simply adjust the chainstay length for increased tire and mud clearance.

We recommend tires up to 2.3” wide with (up to) 28mm maximum inner width rims on 29” wheels for the LES SL. Rim width and tire manufacture sizing call outs and tire inconsistency can result in huge difference among both tire brands and individual tires. We suggest you check the fit with your chosen rim and tire combination to make sure it has proper clearance before riding

The LES SL is compatible with 29” wheels

Pivot uses a 1.5 thread pitch on the rear thru axle.

The LES SL will accept all cranks designed for the BOOST system and compatible with a Press Fit 92mm bottom bracket. BOOST system means that the rear hub spacing is 148mm and the chain-rings have (approximately) a 52mm chainline.

You can use non-Boost: Race Face Next SL 1x cranks, Shimano XT and XTR 11 speed 1x11 cranks (with 30t or 32t), and Shimano XT 11 and XTR 11 speed 2x11 cranks (with 24t/34t or 26t/36t). There may be other 2x non-Boost cranksets available that will work, though it will depend on the chainline and chainring size. If the chainline is not out far enough, the front derailleur clearance may be tight when shifting into the small ring – the front derailleur mount has been shifted outwards to accommodate the Boost design.

The LES SL uses a Pressfit BB92 (PF92) bottom bracket.  All major crank manufacturers and many aftermarket companies make PF92 bottom brackets.  However, if you are running a crank with a 30mm diameter spindle (like Race face) we highly recommend using a bottom bracket with a double row bearing design such as our Pivot Enduro BB.

163mm

36t (for 1x)

An e-type side-swing style front derailleur - Shimano produces the e-type side-swing front derailleur in:

- Deore & SLX for 10-speed drivetrains

- XT & XTR for 11-speed drivetrains

- SLX, XT & XTR for 12-speed drivetrains

The LES SL was designed for 100mm to 130mm fork travel. 130mm is the maximum travel length to be used on the LES SL. We use the new FOX 32 Step Cast 100mm fork in all our complete bike builds. This fork is a 29” race-specific fork designed for 29” wheels with up to 2.3” tires and is NOT compatible with 27.5+ tires.

The Fox 32 100mm Stepcast we spec on all the standard builds has a 44mm offset.

For the LES SL, we use an integrated style headset. The upper bearing measures 1-1/8" with 45°/45° ACB & has an OD of 41.8mm. The lower bearing measures 1-1/2" with 45°/45° ACB & has an OD of 51.9mm.

180mm

No rear brake adapter is needed for a 160mm rotor. If you would like to put a 180mm rotor on, you will need a direct mount post-to-post adapter.

A detailed PDF of the torque specs can be found in the Tech Specs section.

A size medium LES SL frame weighs just 2.3 lbs (1045 grams). Pivot bicycles are among the lightest available, but the weight is only one of many factors that make a great bicycle. Other aspects such as frame stiffness, strength, durability, and ride quality are just as important as weight to our engineers when designing our Hollow Core Carbon and aluminum frames. Instead of comparing grams online, we suggest you visit your local Pivot dealer and see our attention to detail, smart, high-value spec, and class-leading features. Bring a scale if you’d like but take just one demo ride and you’ll feel why Pivot Cycles are the most well-rounded, highest performing bicycles on the market and in many cases, yes, it’s the lightest as well.
